Call for Special Session Proposal

Overview

The technical program of MMAsia 2026 will include several special sessions on new or merging topics related to multimedia analysis. This year we particularly welcome sessions related to the main theme of MMAsia 2025, which is Cultural Heritage meets Digital Media Transformation. Proposing sessions on other cross-disciplinary research is highly encouraged as well.
Each special session should consist of 4-5 submissions. All special paper submissions will be under the same review process as the regular paper. The special session organizers should suggest 1-2 reviewers for each submission, while the regular program committee will assign another two reviewers. The final decision on acceptance/rejection will be made jointly by the special session organizers and the MMAsia 2025 PC chairs.
Special session papers must follow the same guidelines as regular research papers with respect to restrictions on formatting, length, and double-blind reviews.

Proposal Format

Special session proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness of the topic, its uniqueness, and the qualifications of the proposers. To avoid multiple special sessions covering similar topics, it is likely that an accepted proposal will be combined with similar proposals. Organizers should not contribute more than one paper for the special session.
The special session proposal should contain the following information:
• A title for the special session, the names and contact information of the organizers
• A brief description of the session (up to one page)
• Brief biographies of the session organizer(s) and their contact information
• 4-5 tentative papers with title, authors, and a short abstract.

Proponents of special sessions are invited to submit their proposals in PDF attached to the Special Sessions Co-Chairs (Emails are listed below), with “MMAsia2025 Special Session Proposal” as the subject.

Proposal Notification of Acceptance: 10th June, 2025
